A United Methodist Congregation
Youth Music Ministry
Being a member of a youth choir is an important part of one’s development as a whole person. Our choirs focus on providing each youth a connection with singing and playing music, with worship in the Church, with being a part of a group with a common purpose, and with service to others.
THE GENESIS I YOUTH CHOIR – meets regularly each Sunday afternoon from 5:00 pm until 6:15. The choir functions in relationship to the entire youth ministry. The choir sings regularly for the 8:45 sanctuary service on the first and third Sundays of the month and at other services as scheduled. In addition, the choir presents special concerts and leads in worship at other times of the year and hosts the annual Candlelight Christmas Dinner in December. The Genesis I Choir tours each year in either late May or early June. The choir is open to youth from 6th grade through 12th grade.
YOUTH HANDBELLS – this ensemble is open to all youth. Though previous experience is helpful, anyone with note-reading ability and an interest in playing hand bells is welcome. The group rehearses each Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 7:20 pm.
YOUTH PRAISE BAND – this ensemble is for musicians who have some experience and even those who are just learning an instrument. The group meets at 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoons. They participate in worship throughout the year on both Sunday mornings and evenings.
