A United Methodist Congregation

MissionsJesus told us to go unto the world and make disciples of all the nations. And Munsey Church lives this rule. Whether across the street, or across the sea, Munsey’s congregation is taking the good news of our Lord and Savior to those who have not heard or cannot hear it.
Quite literally, across the street, Munsey serves the residents of the John Sevier Center housing. Moses developed a greater relation with God after seeing the burning bush. Munsey developed a greater relationship and awareness of our John Sevier neighbors after watching the building burn on Christmas Eve of 1989. We as a congregation have been told to take care of God’s children in this place. See more about our service to our neighbors across the street in the Melting Pot tab of this website.
Just a few more blocks away, may be your neighborhood, your family, or someone else that you know. Munsey has provided mission ministry to the local area for over 135 years from the corner of Market and Roan Streets. By providing blankets, clothing or food to our local ministry partners, each month we have a local mission outreach. See the Local Missions tab on this website to see the many ways Munsey may be touching someone across the street from you.
Some nations do not allow our mission to be heard across their land. If God wants to be heard somewhere, He will make it happen. Munsey supports several International mission teams on an annual basis. These missionaries range from working with the native tribes and locals in Alaska, Egypt, Africa and India. It is not just our prayers and presents we send across the seas. Munsey Church sends short term mission teams to serve in several locations a year. Annually, over 50 members contribute to the Mexico Mission trip with anywhere from 5 to 20 members going abroad with the mostly medical team. Munsey has taught youth in the Czech Republic how to play softball (in the name of God). People can come to Christ through a myriad of ways. You can see our recipients and their work in the Global Missions tab on this website.
While the Methodist logo has a red flame on it, here at Munsey, we monitor the blue flame in the furnace, the lights left on in the building and the means it takes to get food to your table. Look at the Church and Society tab to see the ways Munsey is working to “green” up our church building, our congregation at home and work as well as bringing awareness to the environment around us. It is amazing how many resources God has placed around us so close to home. We just need to want to see them, as we need to want to see the face of Jesus in those around us.
